Common AC Problems: Blowing Warm Air

When the heat of the summer season is in full swing, the last thing that you want to be worrying about is whether or not your air conditioner is going to function properly and keep your home cool and comfortable. Unfortunately, there really is no guarantee that it is going to do so. Chances are that, at some point, you are going to have to schedule service for a malfunctioning or damaged air conditioner. That is why you should keep yourself aware of potential warning signs that your air conditioner in North Seattle, WA is in trouble.

Why Is My AC Blowing Warm Air?

Sometimes, problems with your air conditioner may not be as serious as they appear. An air conditioner that is blowing warm air is obviously not one that is functioning properly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a major problem. You should always double check a few items before jumping to conclusions or scheduling repairs.

First of all, you could have simply set the thermostat incorrectly. If the thermostat is set at too high of a temperature, then you may not feel air that is as cool as you’d like. You may also have simply left it in a “fan only” mode, so the system is just cycling unconditioned air throughout the house.

Another potential cause of the problem is a tripped circuit breaker. If the circuit that the outdoor unit is on is tripped, then it will leave the indoor unit without cooled air to distribute throughout the house. This is akin to leaving the system in “fan only” mode, and can be resolved with the flip of a breaker switch.

If there is no such obvious cause of the problem, then you should definitely schedule service with a member of our team immediately. You could have an issue such as a refrigerant leak, or even damaged air ducts that are pulling in warm air. We’ll figure out exactly what is wrong so that we can resolve the problem completely.
