Why Are Ductless Mini Splits So Efficient?

We’re nearing the end of the summer season, whether you are ready to let go of the warm weather or not. That has many homeowners looking forward to the colder time of the year, and really taking stock of the condition that their heaters are in. If you think you’d benefit from a heating replacement this year, or if the performance of your AC so far this summer leads you to believe it’s time to make some changes, consider the installation of a ductless mini split system in Everett, WA.

A Multi-Pronged Approach to Efficiency

First things first, the elimination of air ducts is a major asset in the battle for energy efficiency. Leaky ductwork is one of, if not the, single most common causes of energy efficiency in homes throughout the country. It doesn’t matter if you are trying to heat your home or cool it — and ductless mini splits can do both — with leaky ductwork. The end result is going to be an inefficient performance, leaving you to pay more for lesser comfort.

Of course, the fact that ductless mini splits utilize heat pump technology is another reason that they are so well-renowned for energy efficiency. When you generate heat with which to warm your home, you must burn a fuel or use electric resistance to do so. When you use a heat pump, though, you make use of existing heat that is already in the air outside. Only a very small amount of electricity is used to transfer that heat into your home.

Finally, there is the fact that ductless mini splits offer such great control over their operation to consider. Each individual blower installed throughout your home is controlled by its own individual thermostat. This means that you can maintain different temperatures in different areas of your home. In doing so, you can cut down on the energy that you use to heat or cool those areas that are rarely, if at all, used.
